Course Overview:
The Confined Space Safety Training course is designed to equip workers and supervisors with the knowledge and skills necessary to safely identify, enter, work in, and exit confined spaces. The course covers regulatory requirements, potential hazards, entry procedures, and emergency response protocols, with a strong emphasis on hazard recognition and safe work practices.
Participants will gain a comprehensive understanding of the responsibilities of authorized entrants, attendants, and entry supervisors, as defined by OSHA's Confined Space Standard (29 CFR 1910.146).
Course Objectives:
Define what constitutes a confined space and a permit-required confined space
Identify common hazards associated with confined space entry, including atmospheric, physical, and environmental risks
Understand the roles and responsibilities of the entry team (entrant, attendant, and supervisor)
Learn proper procedures for testing and monitoring atmospheric conditions
Review permit systems, signage, and entry authorization processes
Explore rescue planning, emergency procedures, and communication protocols
Demonstrate the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and monitoring equipment
